Learning Sciences Lab is conducting its third game-based learning workshop using Indiana University’s academic play space Quest Atlantis. Assistant Professor Steve Zuiker and Research Associate Doreen Ang have partnered with Indiana University’s Center for Research on Learning & Technology, NIE’s Learning Sciences & Technologies Academic Group, and NIE’s Graduate Programs & Research Office to offer this professional development course to Singapore teachers. http://bit.ly/QuestAtlantisWorkshop

Dr. Zhang Baohui participated the 13th Asian Chemical Congress (13th ACC) conference as an invited speaker to the Chemistry Education Session (Sept. 14-16, 2009, Shanghai, China). Other invited speakers were from China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Estonia, Philippines, and USA. His presentation title was: Improving Secondary School Chemistry Learning through School-based and Technology Enhanced Innovation in Singapore. During his trip, Dr. Zhang was also invited to give a presentation titledTen-Year Journey on Using Technologies for Inquiry-based Science Teaching and Learning"at the Learning Sciences Center, East China Normal University, China. This workshop on 30 April 2009 provides an overview of the basic functions of SPSS, for statistical analyses in quantitative research. Participants will learn the basic features of SPSS and will be taken step-by-step to learn data coding, data inputting/importing and data analysis, as well as scientifically interpret the analysis results.  

Dr Chen Wenli has been doing quantitative and qualitative research in the areas of learning sciences and communication studies, and has published more than 40 papers, including three award-winning publications. Dr Chen teaches Quantitative Methodology and Statistical Analysis at NIE and NTU. She is also a research consultant for a number of schools in Singapore.

She is now an Assistant Professor with Learning Sciences and Technologies Academic Group and a faculty researcher with the Learning Sciences Laboratory.
